Williams, Price Pace Chargers in Win at McHenry County

CRYSTAL LAKE — Matt Williams (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) had season-highs in scoring and rebounding for his first career double-double and Eric Price (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) continued his hot stretch off the bench to help the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team to an 81-67 win at McHenry County on Saturday afternoon.

Williams led all players in scoring with 20 points while going 9 of 14 from the floor, and the freshman forward pulled in a season-best 10 rebounds to pace Sandburg (14-9), which led 44-39 at the break.

Atem Agot (East Moline, Ill./United Township) also had a double-double for the Chargers — his second in a row and seventh of the season — by scoring 12 points and collecting a game-high 11 boards.

Price recorded a season-high in scoring for the second straight game as he came on to score 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting. The freshman also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Chargers. In his last three games, Price has averaged 15.7 points per contest and shot 52.7 percent from the floor.

Freshman Connor Barnett (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) added 11 points against the Scots (14-10), who came into the contest on a five-game winning streak and had won eight of their last nine.
